Florida Consulting

Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Manager is one of Florida Consulting’s most pivotal roles — sitting at the intersection of strategy, delivery, and client leadership. Managers run end-to-end projects with full ownership of scope, team, quality, and client relationship. They serve as the primary strategic partner to clients and are responsible for translating complex mandates into structured, high-impact consulting programmes.
You are expected to lead with authority and empathy — managing diverse teams, navigating institutional complexity, and representing Florida at the highest levels of client engagement. Managers also play a direct role in the firm’s growth: identifying new opportunities, shaping proposals, and building lasting relationships with government, development finance institutions, and private sector partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Delivery & Client Leadership

  • Own and manage full project lifecycle — from scoping, contracting, and team mobilisation to delivery, reporting, and closure
  • Serve as senior client relationship owner; lead strategic discussions, review meetings, and stakeholder workshops at senior levels
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and impact of all project deliverables across assigned engagements
  • Navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments — governments, bilateral donors, private sector, and civil society
  • Design and oversee high-stakes outputs: master plans, investment strategies, policy frameworks, programme designs, and impact assessments

Business Development

  • Lead end-to-end proposal development, technical bids, RFP responses, and pitch presentations
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government departments, bilateral/multilateral agencies, and industry bodies
  • Represent Florida at industry forums, conferences, and networking events

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and develop multi-level consulting teams across one or more concurrent projects
  • Set performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and support career progression of team members
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and values-driven team environment
  • Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and capability-building initiatives within the firm

Firm Building & IP Development

  • Drive the development of Florida’s proprietary consulting frameworks, sector toolkits, and thought leadership publications
  • Champion innovation in delivery methodology — piloting new approaches, tools, and cross-vertical solutions
  • If appointed as Pod Lead: manage the full scope of the assigned pod (ARC, CODEX, AXIOM, etc.) as an enterprise function
  • Actively contribute to Florida’s strategic planning, growth agenda, and culture

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in management consulting, development consulting, government advisory, or senior industry roles
  • Proven track record of independently delivering large, complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Deep domain expertise in at least two of Florida’s vertical areas with demonstrated impact
  • Strong P&L awareness and commercial acumen — understanding of project economics, pricing, and scope management
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills — ability to inspire, develop, and retain consulting talent
  • Demonstrated business development capability: proposal writing, client acquisition, and relationship management
  • Board-level communication and presentation skills — able to influence senior government officials, CEOs, and development leaders
  • Strategic thinking paired with strong execution discipline — able to both set direction and drive delivery
  • High levels of professional integrity, accountability, and commitment to systemic impact
  • Experience in bilateral/multilateral-funded projects (World Bank, UNDP, GIZ, DFID/FCDO, ADB, etc.) preferred
